Earlier this week I took time to expand Blue Ribbon’s horizon. Training was being offered in Alabama at the Wellborn Cabinet manufacturing facility. The training offered included cabinet product knowledge, installation techniques, quality control, marketing and sales of their product line. The visit also included a tour of their complete factory. What an amazing time we had. I arrived on Monday evening along with the NC Wellborn rep and our associate from 1ST Choice Cabinets. Training began on Tuesday morning bright and early and lasted all day. I was glad to be inside because the weather for Alabama was outrageously cold and windy the same as it was here in Raleigh. However after class ended at five, there was another event. Since the Wellborn facility is more of a campus than a factory setting there are other facilities. These include a day care center for the employees children, a school, a fire station with three trucks including a ladder, engine and water tanker, an on site nurse and weekly visit by a doctor for the employees. But for recreation there is a 35 acre lake stocked with large mouth bass and a five station skeet shooting range with seven skeet launchers. These facilities are for the use of visitors as well as employees. Even though it was 27 degrees with a 20 mph wind we blasted away at the orange targets. After two hours we took our frozen bones back to the hotel being very appreciative of the bus heater. More on Day two later on, stay tuned because day two was the factory tour which was absolutely amazing. Click on the title to visit the Wellborn website.
